Dmart was founded in the year 2002 by Radhkishan Damani who was then 45 years of age and a well-established name in Indian Stock Market. Damani is considered to be mentor for the current popular stock market investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. Damani was considered legendary stock market investor in the era of 90s. Damani dropped out of commerce degree and joined his father’s ball bearings business and started his stock market journey when he was 32 years of age. Later made millions in the stock market with popular stocks like Gillette and HDFC Bank.

DMart is a one-stop supermarket chain that aims to offer customers a wide range of basic home and personal products under one roof. The first store was launched in Powai in 2002, DMart today has a well-established presence in 284 locations across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, NCR, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Rajasthan

The supermarket chain of DMart stores is owned and operated by Avenue Supermarts Ltd. (ASL). The company has its headquarters in Mumbai.

Dmart offer the best prices in food and grocery than any other retail chain as they believe in adding value and savings to customers grocery and food expenses. The unique strategy of Dmart is to own the outlet (property), while many retailers leased out the shops, Dmart adopted a strategy of owing the retail outlets property. Since the opening of the first store, they have not shut any retail outlets in the last 20 years. They currently own 80% of their stores. DMART Stores Formats

For now, most of the people come to Dmart because they will get all things what they need under one roof; hereby, Dmart stores are operational in high traffic areas and urban cities. They are providing the business across three formats including Hypermarkets that are spread across 30,000-35,000 sqft. Apart from that, Dmart Express format that is also spread over 7,000-10,000 sqft and lastly, the SuperCenters, that are set up at over 1 lakh square feet are very big business for Dmart.



DMART Q4 Results and Financials

On Saturday reported a 3.14 per cent year-on-year jump in its consolidated net profit to Rs 427 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2022. The net profit had stood at Rs 414 crore in the corresponding quarter of last year.

The total revenue of Dmart jumped 18.53 per cent YoY to Rs 8,786 crore, as compared with Rs 7,412 crore in the same period last year. PAT margin stood of Avenue Supermarts at 4.8 per cent in Q4 FY22 as compared to 5.5 per cent in Q4 FY21, the company said in a regulatory filing on Saturday, May 14. The in EBITDA in Q4 FY22 stood at Rs 739 crore, as compared to Rs 613 crore in the corresponding quarter of last year. EBITDA margin stood at 8.4 per cent in Q4 FY22 as compared to 8.3 per cent in Q4 FY21, the regulatory filing on the day said.
